AV Maintenance Support for Pentagon Press Briefing Room
Serving as the Department of Defense (DoD) headquarters since 1943, the Pentagon is the one of the largest office buildings on the planet, at about 6.5 million square feet. More than 25,000 military, civilian, and non-defense support personnel come to work each day at this architectural marvel in Arlington, VA. Our window into the daily happenings at DoD is the Pentagon Press Briefing Room (PBR), where leaders at the highest levels of the U.S. military and government give important updates that are broadcast around the world.
Since October of 2009, NCC has had the pleasure of supporting the PBR with a variety of audiovisual maintenance services. During that time, the PBR has been the site of hundreds of crucial updates and announcements given by President Obama and Defense Secretaries Gates, Panetta, Hagel, and current Secretary Ash Carter.
We are privileged to extend this significant contract with DoD, as we will continue to provide a range of preventative maintenance plus support for urgent remedial maintenance. In addition to covering the main briefing room, the PBR contract also encompasses two ancillary rooms: a control center and an overflow/green room suite. This facility utilizes more than 100 items from both AV and broadcast equipment manufacturers.
Our support for the PBR extends well beyond AV maintenance. Through our contract with the Defense Media Activity (DMA), since September of 2015, we have provided live captioning for more than 150 events in this facility. Our DMA captioning services – which include internal broadcasts, town halls, news, and other programming – have been shown in 177 countries around the world and 279 Navy ships at sea.
We look forward to continuing the diverse support we have provided the PBR for nearly seven years, as we proudly play a role in enabling communication and collaboration for the DoD in its critical day-to-day operations.
