Captioning Support for DoD Worldwide Troop Talk
“You are what make ours the finest fighting force the world has ever known. It’s our people. It starts with our people. So that’s my whole day and all my attention basically centered on our folks,” said U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter, as he opened the Worldwide Troop Talk on September 21st in the Pentagon.
Secretary Carter answered questions through social media and from service members stationed across the globe as part of the Worldwide Troop Talk. Through our contract with the DoD’s Defense Media Activity (DMA), NCC had the privilege of providing real-time captioning for the one-hour event, which was streamed on Defense.gov. He answered questions about some of the internal and global challenges the U.S. Military faces. However, Secretary Carter couldn’t commit to an answer when he was asked whom he’s picking in the annual Army-Navy football game in December, though he did say he will be attending the game.
We launched our Language & Text Solutions and Multimedia Production & Distribution contract with DMA in the summer of 2015. Our team of expert captioners have provided accurate real-time captioning support for DoD’s internal broadcasts, town halls, news, and a variety of other events for both domestic and international viewing. We also provide 24/7/365 coverage and short-notice support for broadcast and streaming events.
In addition to real-time captioning, our knowledgeable post-production team creates captioned videos for content including first-run movies and a range of other programming for our troops overseas to view on the Armed Forces Network.
We are honored to have the opportunity to continue enabling communication and collaboration for the DMA, as we provide vital captioning support to allow a larger audience to fully enjoy the DoD’s video content.
