Live Event Support for NSF EAPSI

NSF EAPSI

The majority of college students around the country will soon take a much needed break from their studies for the summer; but for a select 200-plus graduate students, this summer presents an exciting new challenge that will take them thousands of miles from home.  NSF’s 2015 East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI) Program, which runs for 10 weeks between June and August, sends deserving grad students abroad to perform scientific research in one of seven countries.

On April 2-3, NCC was pleased to provide comprehensive meeting support for the 2015 EAPSI Pre-Departure Orientation, our fourth consecutive year supporting this event.  Our team of event support associates were responsible for venue selection, meeting room logistics, audiovisual support, and designing and maintaining a fully customized conference website.

The annual Pre-Departure Orientation in Washington, D.C. draws about 225 program participants each year as they prepare for their summer abroad in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, or Taiwan.  NSF and other selected foreign science and technology agencies sponsor deserving graduate students as they have the opportunity to conduct first-hand research, and learn about the society, culture, language, and science policy and infrastructure in their designated country.

Upon completion of the event, NSF expressed their appreciation for our work, noting that, “our commitment, attention to detail, punctuality, and customer service are exemplary.”

NCC has been privileged to reliably support NSF with a range of services since 2010.  In 2014, we expanded our contract with the Foundation’s Meeting and Events Management team to provide comprehensive AV support and preventative maintenance.  In 2013, we launched an AV installation contract which included important video conferencing upgrades in several rooms for the Geosciences Directorate.  Furthermore, since 2012, we have produced verbatim transcripts of record for numerous National Science Board meetings.

We were honored to play a significant role in a successful 2015 EAPSI Pre-Departure Orientation, making communication and collaboration happen® for NSF as we have since 2010.
