Multimedia and Event Support for 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee
Last weekend’s Easter Egg hunts may have been more spirited than in previous years. That could be because many of us felt better about eating the whole egg rather than the egg whites only. The 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) released its recommendations on February 19th, and among them was “cholesterol (which is contained in egg yolks) is not a nutrient of concern for overconsumption.”
On March 24th, HHS and USDA hosted a Public Oral Comment Meeting on the “Scientific Report of the 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.” This was the eighth and final 2015 DGAC meeting, ending a process that began in June 2013. The Committee put all their eggs in NCC’s basket, so to speak, as we had the privilege of providing multimedia and general event support for all eight meetings.
NCC was tasked with maintaining DGAC’s registration website, which we updated for each meeting. Our expert team of event support associates was responsible for transmitting registration reports to the Committee’s organizers, tracking in-person attendees, and corresponding with participants. Prior to the Public Comment meeting, we finalized a list of speakers, provided instructions regarding the event, and answered any questions to ensure that the meeting would run seamlessly.
In addition to handling the online registration and on-site logistical support, NCC’s highly-skilled captioners provided real-time captioning for the webcasts of each meeting, allowing a greater audience to fully participate in the DGAC meetings from any remote location.
We were proud to provide real-time captioning service and logistical and on-site meeting support for DGAC for each of its eight meetings, making communication and collaboration® for the committee as it made important for the American people.
