NCC and HHS OSDBU “Get Back 2 Business”
NCC’s Conference and Peer Review Management (CPRM) Division was pleased to support the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the Secretary, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) in a White House Initiative to reach out to small businesses. “Getting Back 2 Business” featured two community outreach events to discuss how the Affordable Care Act can help small businesses. The events were held in Philadelphia on June 12 and in San Diego on June 22, and were open to small businesses interested in pursuing government contracts.
Our CPRM team was tasked with providing logistical and technical support for every phase of the project, from event registration through follow up surveys with attendees. We designed and launched the Getting Back 2 Business website, which enabled online registration for small business participants. Based on information provided by registrants, our team scheduled matchmaking sessions in which attendees had the chance to meet with large business or government representatives, and also gain valuable knowledge about the procurement process.
CPRM Team Members Ms. Kim Preiss and Ms. Laura Walters were on-site in Philadelphia and San Diego to provide full support for the events, which drew nearly 200 attendees in total. They arrived at both locations one day in advance to meet with venue staff and confirm that space and logistics were prepared for all meeting activities. Ms. Preiss and Ms. Walters worked in concert with HHS staff members during each event to guide participants through registration and the conference sessions, maintaining organization during the matchmaking sessions while also accommodating attendee requests for changes upon arrival.
The “Back 2 Business” Community Outreach Event received much positive feedback from attendees, such as this response from one San Diego participant: “Overall, this was a very informative and interesting day. Thank you so much. I can tell a lot of hard work went into to putting this together.”
NCC is proud to have once again demonstrated the dedicated, efficient, and high quality service that has characterized our business since inception. We look forward to continuing our support of HHS, a long-time member of our satisfied client community; as a member of the small business family ourselves we appreciate their recognition of small businesses as the heart of our economy and their efforts to stimulate growth.
