NCC Attends InfoComm 2012
This June, members of NCC’s Audiovisual and Technology Solutions team traveled to Las Vegas for InfoComm 2012, the AV industry’s premier trade show. An annual event, the giant-sized InfoComm alternates between Las Vegas and Orlando, the only locations with room enough for the whole show; this year, 933 exhibitors took up 487,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Over 34,000 AV professionals attended this year’s InfoComm to see first-hand the exciting new developments in the AV industry, attend one or a few of over 300 education sessions, and meet and mingle with manufacturers as well as fellow technology professionals. Many AV manufacturers save big announcements for InfoComm and debut new technologies during the show, and many business relationships are initiated or deepened on the tradeshow floor.
NCC’s Director of Engineering Carlos Fuentes, Account Executive Joe Lebling, and AVTS Technician Deron Pinchback began their InfoComm experience by immersing themselves in three intensive days of classes held on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday June 9-11 from 8am to 5pm. There were also opportunities for our team to meet with suppliers and vendors before the exhibit floor officially opened on Wednesday, June 13.
With only three days to see as much as they could, our intrepid AV team likely logged at least a hundred miles amongst themselves in walking around the Convention Center. Their experiences included speaking with manufacturers and taking guided tours of exhibit booths in order to gain exposure to exciting new products and technologies from companies like CyberTouch (fascinating touch screen technology), Innovox (advanced custom audio systems), and ClearOne (unparalleled audio and video conferencing products).
In the midst of exploring the new exciting technologies we will be able to offer to our clients, our team continued to use current and reliable tools like smartphones and laptops to communicate with our headquarters, ensuring that our new AV Project Manager Tichuandra Harris and AV Technician Mike Watson were fully able to support our clients’ needs. Ms. Harris drew upon her previous project management background and Mr. Watson called upon his experiences as a technician at the World Bank to carry out the division’s work here in DC. Smart advance planning as well as the expert supervision of AVTS Division Director Dean Baij ensured projects stayed on track and all our customers received prompt responses.
NCC’s AVTS Team is excited about the new technology, knowledge, and partnerships acquired at InfoComm, which will further enhance our division’s capabilities, and looks forward to attending next year’s trade show in Orlando.
