NCC Awards Scholarship at USPAACC’s CelebrAsian 2014
“The Asian American community is a driving force of the changing business landscape in this country. This is a group of entrepreneurs and innovators whose ideas, energy, and intimate understanding of Asian cultures are making an incredible impact on the economy and reshaping the way we approach our business.” These words spoken by PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi were part of the keynote address for the United States Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce’s (USPAACC) CelebrAsian 2014. As a business owned by half-Korean President and CEO Chris Marquez, NCC is proud to be an active part of this “changing business landscape.”
Furthermore, we were privileged to play a significant role in CelebrAsian 2014. For the second year in a row, NCC was honored to award a scholarship to a deserving high school senior; the National Capitol Contracting LLC Hallmark Scholarship was one of 19 awarded at this year’s event, which was held June 2-4 in Tysons Corner, VA. In addition to presenting our scholarship, Chris had the honor of emceeing the CelebrAsian Excellence Awards Dinner gala and also had the opportunity to participate in the “Supplier Success Stories” panel discussion.
CelebrAsian 2014 attracted over 700 participants which represented more than 210 Asian American business-to-business enterprises, 85 Fortune corporations, 25 government agencies, and nine media partners from across the country. The event featured workshops, networking events, and one-on-one procurement matchmaking meetings.
USPAACC is the nation’s largest non-profit, non-partisan organization representing Asian American-related groups in business, sciences, education, sports, the arts, and public and community services. Its mission is to work with its members to attain prosperous contracting relationships and development in the marketplace.
NCC is glad to continually support education. Along with sponsoring the USPAACC scholarship, we have partnered with the Urban Alliance, sponsoring a high school internship since fall of 2013. And we have provided logistical support for various events for the Department of Education’s National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER) since 2012. We congratulate the NCC Scholarship recipient and we are privileged to play a small role in delivering a GOOD future to her as she begins her college education and subsequently her career.
