NCC Eats Pizza (Again) to Benefit AFAC

On January 16th, several NCC employees took a lunch trip to Pie-tanza in Arlington, sampling some of the restaurant’s tastiest pizza and contributing to a worthy cause; twenty percent of proceeds for the entire day of sales at Pie-tanza were donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), a non-profit organization which NCC has supported since April of 2012.

NCC has participated in numerous AFAC activities, and our Pie-tanza experience was not our first cheesy, doughy endeavor to support this generous organization.  In September, a group of hungry NCC team members ate lunch at Pete’s Apizza in Arlington, where 25 percent of sales for the day were given to AFAC.  Also within the culinary realm, in October NCC was proud to be a sponsor for Chiefs vs. Chefs, an event that two NCC associates were privileged to attend.  Additionally, NCC employees have volunteered their time at AFAC’s food distribution center and as AFAC ambassadors at the Shirlington Wine and Jazz Festival, and we donated food items to the organization’s Thanksgiving and winter food drives.

AFAC is a local non-profit organization that offers supplemental groceries to more than 1,600 Arlington families in need each week.  Utilizing the Choice Model, AFAC provides families the opportunity to choose from a variety of breads, meats, canned goods, and beverages rather than being handed a pre-packed bag of groceries.

NCC looks forward to sponsoring and participating in future AFAC events as the organization continues to serve as a resource for members of our Arlington community.
