NCC Presents Scholarship, wins Fast 100 Award at CelebrAsian
In the 10 years between 2002 and 2012, the number of Asian-American businesses increased 40%, generating $699.4 billion in revenue, employing more than 3.6 million people, and supporting payrolls totaling $110.5 billion. National Capitol Contracting has been an active member of the U.S. Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC), the largest organization representing Asian Americans in business, sciences, education, and other industries, since 2012. Last month, NCC participated in CelebrAsian, USPAAC’s annual procurement conference. Representing our company was our VP of Corporate Strategy, Audiovisual & Technology Solutions, Kisha Dimbo.
This year, for the fourth consecutive occasion, we proudly presented a deserving high school senior with the National Capitol Contracting Scholarship. Our scholarship recipient will begin her college career this fall, when she will attend University of California at Davis in the college of Biological Science, exploring careers in the medical field. Having volunteered in her community hospital throughout her high school years, she hopes to provide medical care to patients in need and to educate them about their health. We’re privileged to do our part in beginning her academic and professional endeavors. The National Capitol Contracting Scholarship is one of 19 that were awarded at CelebrAsian, alongside others given by companies including UPS, CVS, PepsiCo, and Ingersoll-Rand. USPAACC receives an average of 3,200 applications annually from high school seniors of Asian Pacific Island heritage. Last year, USPAACC awarded $77,000 in scholarships to recipients.
NCC was also named as one of USPAACC’s Fast 100 award winners, the fastest growing Asian American-owned businesses in the U.S. This was the third such award (formerly known as “Fast 50”) NCC has received since becoming a member of USPAACC in 2012. In total, winners of the 2016 Fast 100 awards combined for a total of $3 billion in revenue. “I was honored to represent NCC at CelebrAsian, and be among the Fast 100 Asian American companies,” said Ms. Dimbo. “This award is a testament to our robust growth and steadfast commitment to our customers.” CelebrAsian 2016 welcomed 800 participants from across the country, representing 94 corporations, 22 government agencies, Asian American and other minority-owned businesses, organizations, and strategic and media partners.
USPAACC is the oldest and largest organization representing Asian Americans and Asian-American-related groups in business, sciences, the arts, sports, education, public and community services. With a mission to “be the gateway to corporate and government contracts, Asian American (includes South and Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander) suppliers, information about Asian Americans and the Asia and Indian Subcontinent markets,” USPAAC was founded in 1986 to address the aspirations, potentials and the challenges Asian Americans faced in the mainstream marketplace. In addition to training, developing, educating, and advocating for Asian American professionals, USPAACC has helped to establish educational opportunities for Asian American leaders of the future for nearly three decades by awarding between 10 and 20 academic scholarships annually.
We were honored to do our part in delivering a GOOD future to the gifted National Capitol Contracting award recipient, and we wish her the best of luck as she begins college this fall. We are also proud to be ranked among USPAACC’s Fast 100 awardees and will strive to build on that growth in pursuit of our vision to create a better service experience for each of our public and private sector clients, making communication and collaboration happen®.
