Unified Communications Support to FTC in the Constitution Center
In 2014, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) merged two of its leases, building out new space in the Constitution Center, a premier office building in Washington, DC. As a heavy user of videoconferencing and communications technology the FTC knew the importance of having effective, reliable, and flexible AudioVisual (AV) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems throughout the facility. The FTC chose NCC to purchase, integrate, and support its new systems.
Since early this year, NCC has worked in tandem with the FTC’s overall construction project to install and integrate the Commission’s systems to enhance the existing video conferencing infrastructure, while enabling recording and live streaming of AudioVisual content. NCC has equipped and integrated 78 conference rooms, ranging from small meeting spaces to training rooms to full conference centers, in the FTC’s new location. Additionally, the team has installed new Internet Protocol television (IPTV) solutions to support streaming of custom video content from a variety of sources across the FTC’s network and into conference rooms, onto desktops and to the Commission’s video wall. NCC has also provided software and equipment to enable two-way and group video telecommunication outside of the FTC’s network.
NCC staff currently provide comprehensive on-call maintenance and support for the Commission’s daily operations, as we have for the Pentagon Library and Conference Center, the Mark Center Conference Center, the Pentagon’s Press Briefing Room, as well as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and numerous other organizations. From video walls to training rooms, to traditional conference rooms, NCC has provided FTC with the capability required to fully utilize communication and collaboration as it fulfills its mission to protect consumers and promote competition.
NCC has gained an intimate familiarity with the Constitution Center over the course of the year. At the start of 2014, we announced a new contract with Hines, which has managed the Constitution Center since 2012, to provide full conference center scheduling, logistics and AV support to all tenants in the building including the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), National Endowment of the Arts (NEA), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and longtime NCC client, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Our support for the FTC builds on the systems design, engineering, integration and operations support we have performed for organizations including the Securities and Exchange Commission’s headquarters and regional offices, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, National Science Foundation, and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation.
We are honored to support the FTC as it begins a new era in the Constitution Center. At NCC we’re making communication and collaboration happen®.
