NCC Provides On-Site Transcription Support for NRC’s Regulatory Information Conference
NCC was pleased to provide on-site transcription support for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) 25th Annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC), held March 12th to 14th at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel in Bethesda, Maryland. The conference brought together over 3,000 participants from more than 30 countries, and featured numerous speeches, panel discussions, and individual specialized technical sessions.
NCC’s Multimedia and Production Solutions (MPS) associate arrived early at the hotel on all three days of the conference to set up recording equipment and prepare for the note-taking that would enable our team to generate and deliver verbatim transcripts of record to the NRC one week after the conclusion of the RIC.
NCC recorded and transcribed NRC Chairman Allison Macfarlane’s and all commissioners’ speeches; technical sessions, including those focused on emergency preparedness and spent fuel safety; and panel discussions made up of NRC staff and industry representatives.
The RIC provides an opportunity for members of the nuclear industry, advocacy groups, and the general public to stay current on the latest NRC regulatory activities, ask questions, and provide feedback to the commission. The transcripts NCC generated were made available for review on NRC’s website shortly after the RIC’s conclusion[LE1] .
NCC has provided the NRC with on-site captioning; transcription; and DVD authoring services since 2010. In the immediate aftermath of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear disaster in 2011, NCC was there to provide real-time captioning and transcripts of record for a critical meeting that followed; we did the same for Ms. Macfarlane’s first meeting in June 2012 as Chairman of the Commission.
We are proud to again support NRC’s RIC with high quality captioning and transcription, and we look forward to providing this significant agency with these services at this conference, along with the numerous Commission meetings and public meetings that we continually support, for years to come.
