NCC Sponsors, Attends AFAC Spring Carnival
On May 23rd, NCC was pleased to serve as a sponsor for the Arlington Food Assistance Center’s (AFAC) Spring Carnival at the Washington Golf and Country Club in Arlington. Furthermore, one NCC associate had the pleasure of attending this colorful and entertaining event. All proceeds from the evening went to AFAC, helping to feed local-area families in need.
The event featured a variety of classic carnival performers taking the stage in one of the country club’s banquet halls, including a magician, contortionist, sword swallower, juggler, and stilt walker. Guests were treated to a tasty buffet of pastas; salads; and pork, beef, and salmon sliders among other dishes. Also, a silent auction was held, with items up for bid which included a road bicycle, “his and hers” Alex Ovechkin jerseys, and a party catered by the District Taco food truck.
AFAC is a local non-profit organization that offers supplemental groceries to more than 1,500 Arlington families in need each week. Implementing the Choice Model, AFAC provides families the opportunity to choose from a variety of breads, meats, canned goods, beverages, and other staple items rather than being handed a pre-packed bag of groceries. NCC began supporting AFAC in April of 2012, and were pleased to have Executive Director Charles Meng visit and talk about his organization with us at our headquarters at NCC’s Partner Showcase in May.
We were proud to sponsor and join in AFAC’s Spring Carnival, doing our part in creating a better experience for the Arlington families whom AFAC serves.
