NCC Supports NSF’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program

meeting room

In January, NCC was pleased to provide logistical support for the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP).  Our on-site team at NSF secured meeting spaces in the Foundation’s Arlington headquarters to host a series of review panels over the course of three weeks.

After several years of being held off-site, GRFP panel meetings were held at NSF’s headquarters and connected to off-site participants via WebEx.  NCC procured space in six rooms that were utilized by 50 panels in total.  Prior to the start of the GRFP panel meetings, we produced AutoCAD (computer-aided design) drawings of layouts of the rooms which included setups of tables, computers, and video teleconferencing technology.

The GFRP “recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”  NSF Fellows are expected to become experts in their fields and make significant contributions to research, teaching, and innovations in science and engineering.

Along with our daily responsibilities of coordinating and scheduling events at NSF, we have been privileged to support the Foundation in our other divisions of service.  On numerous occasions, our Multimedia and Production Solutions (MPS) team has performed on-site transcription for meetings of the National Science Board, the Geosciences Advisory Committee, and the Environmental Research and Education Advisory Committee.  Furthermore, our Audiovisual and Technology Solutions (AVTS) team recently completed video conferencing system upgrades for NSF’s Directorate for Geosciences.

NCC was happy to play an important role in delivering a GOOD future to the Fellowship awardees by creating a better experience for GRFP panelists.
