NCC to Present Scholarship at CelebrAsian 2016
According to the 2012 U.S. Census, there were 1.9 million Asian American-owned businesses, up nearly 25 percent from the previous Census in 2007. As a company founded by our half-Korean President and CEO Chris Marquez, we are proud to be part of this ever-growing group of diverse businesses.
Since 2012, NCC has been a member of the United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC), the largest and longest-standing organization representing Asian Americans in business, sciences, arts, education, and other sectors. In addition to serving as an advocate for Asian American professionals, USPAACC has helped pave the way for educational opportunities for Asian American leaders of the future for nearly three decades by awarding between 10 and 20 academic scholarships annually at its annual CelebrAsian Procurement Conference.
NCC is thrilled to sponsor the National Capitol Contracting Scholarship for the fourth consecutive year at CelebrAsian 2016, which takes places on June 1-3 in Atlanta. Our VP of Corporate Strategy, Audiovisual & Technology Solutions, Kisha Dimbo, will attend the three-day conference in Atlanta to present the scholarship award to our deserving recipient.
The National Capitol Contracting Scholarship is one of 15 to be awarded at CelebrAsian, along with those given by companies like UPS, CVS, Ingersoll Rand, and PepsiCo, among others. USPAACC receives an average of 3,200 applications annually from high school seniors of Asian Pacific Island heritage. In 2015, USPAACC awarded $55,000 in scholarships to recipients.
The scholarship winners will attend CelebrAsian where they will each deliver a brief acceptance speech and spend time with USPAACC staff. Following the event, they will write an essay about their experiences at CelebrAsian, and also keep USPAACC informed of their college life and studies.
We look forward to taking part in CelebrAsian 2016, playing a role in delivering a GOOD future to a talented high school senior as we present the National Capitol Contracting Scholarship.
