NCC Sponsors, Attends 15th Annual Children’s Inn Gala
On March 23rd, NCC team members attended the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) 15th Annual Children’s Inn Gala in Washington, D.C. Furthermore, we were pleased to be a Welcome Reception sponsor for the event, which benefitted the Children’s Inn at NIH, a residential “place like home” for seriously ill children and their families from all over the world.
Twelve-hundred people attended this year’s Gala, which was emceed by Cokie Roberts of ABC News and NPR, and featured speeches by Gala chair Diane Pearson; NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins; and Avery Ayan and Zach Peters, two residents of the Children’s Inn. There was a live auction which included vacations to Italy, Argentina, and Chile, as well as two quilts featuring Inn-inspired designs; the silent auction featured a New Orleans Jazz and Dining Experience, and a NASCAR Racing Experience. While the gala activities also included dinner, dancing, and raffles, the focus of the evening remained raising money and awareness for the Children’s Inn’s mission of keeping “children together with their families during serious illness, reducing their stress, and facilitating healing through mutual support.”
We were thrilled to attend and sponsor the 2013 Children’s Inn Gala, and we look forward to participating in this important event in the future. As a provider of real-time captioning, transcription, webcasting, conference planning, audiovisual, and information technology services to the NIH for more than a decade, we are appreciative of the opportunity to facilitate the organization turning research into actual treatments. It is our privilege and honor to play a small role in creating a better experience for the many children and families that visit The Children’s Inn each year, and who are playing hugely significant roles in furthering scientific research and discoveries that will benefit us all.
