Transcription Contract with SSA ODAR Renewed
Administrative law judges with the Social Security Administration render more than 700,000 hearing decisions in total over the course of a year, and all 700,000-plus hearings are transcribed verbatim. That’s hundreds of millions of words transcribed each year, many of which are of the legal jargon variety. Since 2011, NCC’s team of talented transcribers and editors have been responsible for producing and delivering these verbatim transcripts of record to SSA’s Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) every day of the week.
We are thrilled to announce the renewal of our transcription contract with SSA ODAR, which means we will continue to make daily deliveries of approximately 40 transcripts to SSA ODAR’s headquarters in nearby Falls Church, Virginia. Also, we will pick up batches of 30 to 50 audio files from SSA each day, and prepare the files to be transcribed for turnaround times ranging from 1 to 10 days, as we have done since we launched the contract.
The ODAR holds hearings and issues decisions as part of the SSA’s process for determining if a person may receive benefits. ODAR directs a nationwide field organization of administrative law judges who conduct impartial “de novo” hearings and decide on appealed determinations involving retirement, survivors, disability, and supplemental security income benefits.
We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with SSA, and we are grateful the organization has put its trust in us to provide accurate verbatim transcript, as we have for the past five years. NCC has gained a strong familiarity with legal transcription in recent years, as we have transcription contracts with the Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review and the U.S. Marshals Service, among others.
Furthermore, in 2015 we were awarded a new AV installation, maintenance, and services contract with SSA ODAR, and in 2014 we were awarded a video teleconferencing support contract for SSA’s 2,000-plus hearing locations throughout the country.
We are honored to continue making communication and collaboration happen® for SSA with a variety of support, and look forward to doing so for several years to come.
